Are you drawing a line in the sand?

Happy Friday all, and welcome to this week’s waffle, which hopefully finds many of you on a beach somewhere, or at least enjoying a slower pace (certainly it's way too hot to do anything in a hurry at the moment).

It turns out that some of you have your best ‘health thoughts’ from sun loungers. We’ve received multiple calls this week from patients in envy-inducing locations saying, ‘Now I’ve actually had the time and headspace to think about this stuff, please book me in for that wellness screen/weight loss medication consultation/menopause consultation’ for September when I get back.'

It’s not surprising when you think about it. Holidays are a ‘pattern interrupt’. A time when you voluntarily relinquish your usual habits, not all of which will be serving you so well from a health perspective. It’s remarkable how quickly you can feel the benefits of e.g. a bit of absent-minded daydreaming (aka mindfulness), a bit more exercise (formal or informal), incorporating a few more fresh and healthy ingredients in your cooking, or simply connecting with your friends and loved ones. You’re probably reflecting on how it took a holiday to get you to that space – whilst also wondering how to build on those gains rather than letting them slide upon your return.

If you’ve had a taster for what a healthier, happier version of you could feel like, and you think it’s worth working on, Winchester GP is on hand to support with expert, non-faddy, evidence-based advice, testing, and treatment options.

Not sure where to start?

  • wellness screen is a great way of gaining a really clear picture of your health as it stands and understanding where your efforts are best focused.

  • If weight is your main concern, and you want a reputable, face-to-face service to explore GLP-1s in their ever-changing new formats, we do that too.

  • And if you have symptoms you suspect may be related to hormonal changes (for both women and men), our doctors can explore this with you and, if suitable, prescribe HRT for women, whilst Dr Tom has a special interest in TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) for men.

Simply call or email our friendly reception team, and we will be happy to guide you towards the most appropriate booking.

Wishing you a fabulous week,

Gemma, Dr Tom Willsher & all at Winchester GP x
